It's very very good to be home. Even if it IS 0° and clouding over a little bit and it's supposed to snow tomorrow. We're home where I can run the coffee maker with my eyes closed, and I know just how to jiggle the toaster, and I can smoosh the pillows up just the right way, and everything looked exactly familiar on the taxi ride home from the airport.
Palm trees are nice, but our Christmas tree is nice, too.
We actually walked in the door just in time to see the big ball drop on Times Square.. although it wasn't the same without Dick Clark doing the countdown. We smooched and toasted to a better year in 2013. So far it seems pretty excellent.
Here's a funny airport story: We travel with our big gigantor suitcase in which ALL the clothes fit, because hooray for only having to check one bag. Got down there just fine with it, weight-wise. Got to the airport yesterday and we were 2 pounds over. What?
Did I mention I went to visit the Yarn Lady store the day before she closed? And yes.. I bought 2 pounds' worth of yarn. HA! So I had to stuff balls of yarn into every square inch of my computer bag. It was the most well-padded computer in the world. It's really pretty, too.
And now it's time to resume real life here in the 612. The best way to do that is to make a trip to Target for provisions, and that's what I'm going to do right now.
