Ominous

The sky only got scarier from this point on....

The plan was to go to the car show.. We were there for about 45 minutes when the weather started turning. By the time we got home, it was turning into a full-on storm-a-rama. Our power flickered a couple of times, but we never fully lost it. We discovered that the kitchen windows weren't meant to take on torrential rain and wind.. water came pouring through the sill and onto the floor. Ragazz' ran to get towels and (in true Martha Stewart fashion) I screamed "NOOOOO! Not the GOOD towels!" and I gathered up all the not-as-good towels to sop up the water. Ruin my nice white fluffy ones? Not on your life. Heh.

We woke up this morning to not very much damage in our neighborhood. All of the trees on our block are too tiny to blow down. Even if they did, they're much smaller than some of the big branches I've seen blown down on other streets. We pulled all my flower pots up onto the steps, so while I lost blossoms (and two sections of new growth on my geranium planter - sad face), they did okay. And we have power, which is the most important part.

Ragazz' and his buddies are going to try racing today. I remain skeptical, but in this ONE area of life they are all true optimists. I wanted to go to splash class, but neither one of my gyms have power. So I'm going to try to get down to the Hacienda and make sure things are still intact there (it looks like there's no power, but nothing is plugged in down there anyway), and then try to find a grocery store that's open.

Oh - and did I mention that the DOT has cut off almost all the major arteries that lead up here? Sheesh. According to the radar, it's supposed to storm again this afternoon, so I'd better get on this stuff now. Good luck. STAY ALIVE!
