Friday:

The Bad
Drove to work, parked in the parking garage. Got out of the car, and forgot to actually step OVER the curb. Walked right into it and fell, landing on my knees and my right hand. The hand which was still holding my (apparently) very sharp and deadly key ring. I drove the sharpest parts of the key ring DIRECTLY into my palm, in the fleshy part just under my thumb.

I'm not even exaggerating when I said that I saw stars.

I raised my hand (keep that excessively bleeding wound up *above* your heart) and ran through the building to my floor, to the bathroom. I doused it with soap and ran it under water for a good 5 minutes. I fully expected to see a huge hole in my hand. Heh. It doesn't actually look that bad, but my whole palm is swollen.

I skinned the sh*t out of my right knee, and bruised up my left calf and shin bone. Ugh. It's amazing how ONE trip and fall can really mess you up.

The Good
I got to hang out at the State Capitol. I met with their facilities manager who is the best. We've worked together on our Rally Day for 3 years now, and we've got it down to a science. It's my most favorite part of the job. The Capitol was nice and quiet, because session doesn't start until next week. It's almost like sitting in a church.. all marble and echoes.

The Lazy
There was, however, a lot of walking involved in the Capitol visit. By the time I was done my banged up knees and shins were screaming. I came home and we commenced with the lazy-time. We settled in on the comfy seats and napped for a long time. Then I took a nice long hot soaking bath... ahhh. Then back to the couch and we watched a million episodes of Mad Men, had leftovers for dinner, I took a gigantic pain pill (left over from the lady-bits surgery) and went to bed.

I feel better this morning, and good thing because it is time to do all the things. We're having D-squared over for dinner tonight and I'm making pulled pork on  homemade buns. Ragazz' is going to get a lesson in how to knead dough, because that's not happening for me with the swollen up hand. I skipped Saturday splash, because I *knew* that class would be too crazy full. I'm gonna go tomorrow morning instead.

Yes, it's time to DO ALL THE THINGS right now. GO!

  1. Oh my. Falls like that are not only humiliating but painful. I did a luge fall down the front steps after the first and only snowfall of the season (so far). I had a jar of sauce from Trader Joe's in my left hand. After sliding down the stairs, I fell over into the bushes. I thank god that no one was around to witness the fall, and that the glass jar didn't break. Glad you had a giant pain pill left - I always have a supply (lady problems) and boy are they helpful! Temp in Cecilia land: 49 degrees.
